Zorgvliet Petit Verdot
Our Petit Verdot grows on a mixture of gravel and clay that ensures for a good balance between drainage and moisture retention. This intensely colored and highly tannic variety is made into a violet-scented and tightly structured wine with the ability to mature for decades.

Food Match
A natural fit for rich meats and spicy dishes. Goes well with earthy or bitter vegetables like grilled eggplant, black olives and onions.
Tasting Notes
This Petit has an intense black color, with a deep and brooding black fruit nose. Also aromas of violets and printer's ink, iodine and cassis on the palate. Tight and focused tannins on the mid palate with a medium length finish.
Production
Grapes were harvested by hand and berry sorted into stainless steel fermenters. Fermentation commenced spontaneously and was finished with a pure strain. Extraction was done with a combination of punch-down, rack-and-return and pump-over methods. Batches were gently pressed and immediately racked to small French oak barrels where they completed malolactic fermentation. The components were racked three times to enhance clarification and development. Blending took place after 14 months ageing, after which the composed blend was aged in barrel for another four months. The wine was bottled after a total of 22 months.
